However, some companies do cover pre-existing medical conditions if you have been symptom free, medication free or treatment free for the last two years (usually). Medical History Declaration

The insurance company will ask you to fill up a form giving details of your medical history. The insurance company might even write to your GP to find out more details about your medical history. It is important to furnish all the details correctly and honestly. Do not try to hide any information as it may lead to rejection of your claim in the future or cancellation of your insurance policy.

Moratorium

You are not required to furnish your medical history details while filling up the form. The insurer will simply not cover you for any medical condition that existed in the last 5 years (usually). You might get cover for these conditions if you have been symptom free, medication free or treatment free for the last two years (usually).
